Blackberry Orange Cooler
BLACKBERRY ORANGE COOLER
MAKES 2 DRINKS
Try this sweet, blue juice for the 4th of July, when you’ve got a little extra time to be patriotic and berries are in season. Don’t spill this one as the deep color (indicative of powerful antioxidants) might never come out. I grow a variety of mints at home, which add a special lift to a fresh drink.
1½ cups blackberries
1½ cups freshly squeezed orange juice
3 cup sparkling water, such as Pellegrino
2 tablespoons agave
Few leaves orange or candy mint (optional)
TOOLS: High-speed blender, sieve or cheesecloth
• Place blackberries and orange juice in blender. Blend until smooth.
• Strain juice through sieve or cheesecloth, pressing with the back of wooden spoon if necessary to separate juice from seeds.
• Add sparkling water and agave to juice. Stir gently.
• Pour into glasses and garnish with orange mint, if desired.
